Nesting
Mother hamsters do it. Mama cats and dogs do it. Expectant birds do it. And, if you’re like many human moms-to-be (and some dads, too!), you’re doing it as well, these days: preparing your "nest" for your soon-to-arrive baby. Though it’s fortunately not manifested in the same behaviors (you’re more likely to recycle that pile of newspapers than shred them or reach for the feather duster rather than the feathers), the nesting instinct in humans can be as powerful as it is for our animal friends. It’s nature's way of getting you ready to nurture a child – an increase in the amount of adrenaline coursing through your system around week 38 or week 39 of your pregnancy probably contributes to this final frenzy, but the emotional factors are just as strong. It’s productive, too — driving many human moms-to-be to sweep out the garage, pair up all the stray socks that have wandered into the Laundry Room Bermuda Triangle, defrost the frost-free refrigerator, and brighten the bathroom grout lines with a toothbrush. (But don't be upset if the nesting urge doesn't strike you at all. That's perfectly normal, too, and means nothing about the kind of mom or dad you'll be).
Here is a list of "Essential Baby" Items that I recommend purchasing before your baby arrives. These essential baby items listed I recommend for babies 0-6 months of age. Some essential baby items can be used beyond the 6 months of age.

Braun Thermo Scan
Braun ThermoScan measures the infrared heat generated by the eardrum and surrounding tissue. Since the eardrum shares blood supply with the temperature control centre in the brain, the ear accurately reflects the core body temperature. When the temperature rises, it is immediately detectable in the ear. The result: the ear is an excellent site to measure temperature. Unlike other thermometers, Braun ThermoScan® features a pre-warmed tip that minimizes the cooling effect that could result from the introduction of a cool probe tip. The pre-warmed tip helps ensure accuracy, measurement after measurement. Finally, the temperature is accurate to a tenth of a degree. Your child's health cannot tolerate approximations!

NeoTop Formula Dispenser
NeoTop allows consumers to easily transfer, store and use formula while minimizing the risk of contaminating the formula. It holds 400 grams of formula, and with an easy twist, dispenses single servings into bottles without exposing the formula to handling. All dispenser components are manufactured in the United States, including Eastman Tritan copolyester with parts produced by Laszeray Technology. In addition, NeoTop’s patented design was developed by a noted board certified U.S. neonatologist and American Academy of Pediatrics member.
I love this Dispenser Delivery System because you can repurpose this container for any form of Protein Powder (Any form of powder you want to use for Smoothies, Shakes, etc.) after you are done using it for your baby! Just like your baby formula will be sterile, so will your protein shakes!!! Just adjust the amount of protein powder accordingly you need for your protein shakes.

Pack and Play
Travel becomes less of a hassle with nuna's innovative SENA crib. The easy-open playspace features a plush, quilted mattress pad that can be placed in a higher position that’s easy to reach for when baby is tiny, then moved to a lower position when your little one starts pulling up and getting more mobile. A smart, zigzag leg design allows one-hand fold-up, and everything folds with the frame for easy packing. Skid-proof feet and padded edges ensure quiet, pinch-free operation, so you and baby both get a good night's sleep.

Baby Clothing
Do yourself a favor and don’t go out and purchase a ton of super cute newborn size baby clothes that have buttons and bows and all those frills that only make dressing your child more difficult. At the beginning…and I’m talking the very beginning…you’re going to think putting clothes on your child is more difficult than figuring out a Rubik’s cube. Trust me. I still remember trying to cram her into her “super cute going home outfit” that involved too many buttons – I felt like I was ripping her arms off she was so upset.
Undershirts: 4-6, short- or long-sleeved
Undershirts that snap or tie on the side are easier to put on a small baby than those that pull over the head. Undershirts are also better than onesies until your baby's umbilical cord falls off.
Onesies: 7-10
Onesies are the staple of a baby's wardrobe. They're one-piece cotton outfits available in long- or short-sleeves. Snaps at the crotch make changing baby, well, a snap.
Infant gowns: 3-4
Long gowns that close at the bottom keep your baby's feet warm and make diaper changes easier. Some gowns have mittens attached to protect your baby from scratching herself.
Sleepers/stretch suits: 3-6
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that babies wear one-piece sleepers at night and NOT covering them with blankets or quilts. Sleepers with built-in feet will keep your baby comfy and cozy from chin to toe.
Hats/caps/bonnets: 1-2
Hats and caps will keep your baby cozy and warm, whether you're indoors or out. And bonnets will shield her from the sun.
Sweaters or blanket sleepers: 1-2
Depending on the weather where you live, your newborn may also need a few blanket sleepers -- or even a snowsuit.
It's a good idea to wash new clothes before your baby wears them. They'll be clean, first and foremost. And washing makes clothes softer and may help prevent skin rashes. You don't need special baby detergent or to wash your baby's clothes by themselves. But do protect your baby's sensitive skin by using a gentle detergent free of dye and perfumes and avoid using bleach, dryer sheets, or fabric softener.

Humidifier
Using a humidifier in a baby’s room is one way to help your child be more comfortable when they are fighting a cold. The moisture in the air can help to loosen congestion and even help with dry, sore throats. During these times of sickness, or during winter months when heated air in our homes is especially drying that a humidifier can be a really nice way to keep your baby or child’s room more comfortable. I recently had the chance to test out a humidifier from Crane–a company whose product line is dedicated to the manufacture of humidifiers, air purifiers and small heaters.

My Breast Friend Nursing Pillow
My Breast Friend is the only nursing pillow designed to perfectly position baby for latch-on while supporting mom’s body where she needs it most. Mom is comfortable and at ease, while breastfeeding. Baby is nursing, healthy and happy.
Medical Grade Breast Pump (Rental from Medical Supply Company)
If you're having trouble nursing during those first few weeks after you give birth, or your baby isn't able to nurse enough to build up your milk supply, your caregiver may recommend using this kind of pump. This pump will probably be what you'll use if your baby's a preemie or in the NICU, or if you're a mom with a medical condition that affects how much milk you produce. A heavy-duty hospital-grade model with a double collection kit has a rapid suck-and-release cycle (referred to as the cycling time) that draws milk from your breasts at about the same rate as a nursing baby. A double collection kit means you can pump both breasts at once, which can cut pumping time in half and drain both breasts more effectively.
Snap and Go Light Weight Stroller
Snap-N-Go is a great stroller! This lightweight and versatile stroller frame carries many brands of infant car seats. Just pop in your car seat and start rolling. It weighs 12 pounds and folds compactly while providing under-seat storage. The Snap N Go Stroller allows parents to place an infant car seat on the carriage frame without removing the child.

Piyo Piyo Baby Nail Scissors
These durable steel precision nail scissors are made especially for babies and their delicate nails. Piyo Piyo is made in Japan (major plus for me). Piyo Piyo baby nail clipper is considered accident-free and so easy to use! Very popular in Asia, Piyo Piyo nail scissors have a rounded tip to prevent accidents while trimming tiny nails. The looped handles are balanced to make them easy to use and comfortable for both left and right-handed caregivers. They're adorable, too, and come with a protective cover. First-time parents are often nervous about hurting their babies while clipping their nails, but they love how safe these scissors are. For many, it has become a precious and often-used item that they recommend to other parents and would buy again and again.
